Last year N2S sent just 0.4% of waste to landfill but, remarkably, have improved on that in the year up to September 2015 by sending exactly nothing to landfill!
The company, that handles redundant or decommissioned computer or communications equipment and cabling, reused 328 tonnes and recycled just over 718 tonnes, with only 3.15 tonnes being sent for high temperature energy recovery.
Most of the equipment is refurbished for reuse or resale, bringing a revenue stream back to the company in an environmentally friendly way. Materials salvaged by N2S included precious metals such as gold, silver and copper, other valuable resources like steel and plastic, as well as hazardous materials such as mercury.
The data we use to work out energy and water costs come from a range of reliable international sources to give an average figure. Figures are rounded up or down to the nearest whole number.
* Total amounts potentially saved do not include lighting in individual rooms, or use of secondary heating.
